Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Advance your career in pet care with structured training and real-world experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies for a seamless store operation.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks passionate individuals post-Grooming Academy completion. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Key traits include computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational detail, and strong communication. Physical demands: standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
