Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Ensure immediate action for sick/injured pets and uphold company standards.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational abilities. Proficiency in computers required. Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/hairy environments with moderate to high noise. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional team lifts over 100 lbs. Depth perception and exposure to mechanical parts/pet hair required.
