Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing our Grooming Academy, you'll deliver top-tier salon services under supervision while building skills in pet care, customer service, and salon operations. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care while supervised.
- Ensure pet safety, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales through consultations.
- Handle check-ins/outs, reservations, client records, and maintain impeccable salon cleanliness.
- Respond to pet health issues and collaborate across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required – complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
