Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Ideal for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and promote sales to meet targets. Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Pet Safety & Care
Prioritize humane conditions, identify sick/injured pets, and take immediate action including vet transport if needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete technical exam if applicable. Must finish PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure required. Computer proficiency essential.

- Capacity to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
