Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing our Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, build pet parent relationships, and ensure the highest standards of pet care and safety. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career in vibrant Las Vegas stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care while supervised.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Upsell services and merchandise to boost salon sales and meet targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions daily.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Academy for certification. You'll need pet handling skills, customer service prowess, organizational abilities, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with composure under pressure and strong communication.
