Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services under supervision while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Lauderhill, Florida, this entry-level position is perfect for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and promote services to drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond swiftly to any sick or injured pets. Participate in store-wide support and embody our culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication skills, and ability to stay composed under pressure are essential. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays required, along with physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a pet hair-filled environment. Organizational skills and attention to safety are critical.
