Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Support store-wide duties and uphold company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, ability to handle pressure, flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, attention to safety, and superior communication skills required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
