Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, assist with sick/injured pets, and support store operations as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure. Be physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
