Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while contributing to store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Upsell merchandise, services, and wellness solutions to meet sales targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Salon Academy for success. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with computer proficiency.
