Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Lees Summit, Missouri, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/check-out procedures.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon metrics.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
