Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and pet parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, store cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, ensure salon sanitation, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational abilities, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair.

- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle pets in wet/noisy environments (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales targets and assist in other store departments as needed
