Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for pets.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminders, and emergency pet care.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise is essential. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
