Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Ideal for passionate animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career in Littleton, Colorado.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations, manage appointments, maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, and promote sales to achieve targets. Respond swiftly to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting clients and handling reservations/check-ins
- Performing maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Upselling merchandise and services
- Ensuring humane conditions and safety protocols
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, and composure under pressure required. Must stand for shifts, lift 50+ lbs, and work evenings/weekends/holidays in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and hair exposure.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage check-in/out, reservations, client records, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
