Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in our London, Ontario location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
  • Build safe technical skills while recommending wellness solutions to pet parents.
  • Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
  • Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; address sick/injured pets immediately.
  • Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions to hit targets.
  • Assist other departments and uphold company policies, values, and culture of Belonging.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seeking flexible candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to thrive under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception. Proficiency in computers required; evenings, weekends, holidays needed.
