Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers training in industry-leading grooming techniques while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost sales and pet health.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may be required). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seeking candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and handle pets safely. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle physical demands (experience)
