Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, providing top-tier salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in London, Ontario, this position offers a pathway to a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to meet targets, and ensure pet safety by addressing health issues promptly. Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure. Be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays; proficient in computers; physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and handling pets safely.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift over 100 pounds (experience)
- Proficiency in computer applications (experience)
- React under pressure and maintain composure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services
- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent experience including check-in/out, reservations, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales and merchandise
- Assist in other store departments as needed
