Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position supports store cleanliness, sales goals, and our culture of Belonging.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for pets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in computers and organizational prowess are essential.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
