Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop technical skills meeting or exceeding company expectations.
- Consult with pet parents, recommend wellness solutions, and manage appointments, check-ins, check-outs, and rebookings.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and promotions.
- Ensure pet safety, including immediate action for sick/injured pets and vet transport if needed.
- Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may be required). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
