Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Lubbock, Texas location, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote sales to meet targets. Uphold salon cleanliness, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, pet hair-filled setting with moderate to high noise levels. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
