Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Lufkin, Texas, you'll join our Professional Styling team for hands-on training through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, develop safe technical skills in bathing, brushing, and grooming while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level role builds toward Pet Stylist certification, sharing store cleanliness and safety duties.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full grooming services like nail trims and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, and maintain salon sanitation. Identify sick pets for vet transport and assist other departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Uphold pet safety and humane conditions
- Drive salon productivity and metrics
- Follow all company policies
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Strong communication, organization, and ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair essential. Vision for depth perception needed.
