Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. Uphold our vision of exceptional salon services, store cleanliness, and pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, maintain salon sanitation, and assist with pet emergencies or other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computers, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment required.
