Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Madison, Tennessee, this position offers a dynamic start to a rewarding career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain client records, and drive salon sales. Ensure salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.

Experience & Skills

Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure essential. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled space with flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
