Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Manahawkin, New Jersey, this position offers a dynamic start to a rewarding career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations while under supervision.
• Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins, and rebooking.
• Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
• Drive sales by recommending services, merchandise, and wellness solutions to achieve targets.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ pounds, and work in a pet-filled environment is essential. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
