Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Manchester, NH location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Uphold our vision of exceptional pet care while building skills in a dynamic retail salon setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, ensure pet safety, and drive sales to meet targets. Assist across departments and respond swiftly to pet health needs.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting clients and handling reservations/check-ins
- Performing end-of-day cleaning and maintenance
- Promoting merchandise and wellness solutions
- Participating in our culture of recognition
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.

- Manage check-in/out, reservations, client records, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
