Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and build lasting pet parent relationships. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness needs and recommend solutions to enhance pet health.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Drive sales through merchandise promotion and salon growth initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Academy training to qualify. You'll need strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with composure under pressure and passion for pets.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and maintain composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
