Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Marquette, Michigan location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role prepares you for a Pet Stylist position after successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, learning industry-best grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety and exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services and merchandise to drive salon sales.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets as needed.
- Assist in other store departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
