Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Matthews, North Carolina, you'll train under experienced Professional Stylists in PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. Uphold pet safety, store cleanliness, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance customer experience.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and promote company values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must lift 50+ lbs, stand for shifts, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Passion for pets and safety essential.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
