Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Mattoon, Illinois, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists, mastering industry-leading grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on delivering exceptional salon services while prioritizing pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, client records, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost sales and meet targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must be flexible for evenings/weekends/holidays and physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair exposure.
