Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Mayaguez, Puerto Rico location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences, and upholding our vision for pet wellness. Advance to Pet Stylist upon academy completion.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend solutions, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure pet safety, and assist across departments as needed. Respond swiftly to pet health issues and follow all policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Conducting check-ins/check-outs and reminder calls
- Upselling merchandise and services
- End-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklists
- Team lifting for pet handling
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our technical exam if applicable. Must finish PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.

- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
