Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding company values, store cleanliness, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-in/out, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane conditions for pets.
- Respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
