Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll learn from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. Under supervision, deliver best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills and store operations knowledge, paving the way for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions daily.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart provides comprehensive training—no prior experience required, though it's preferred (technical exam may apply). Successful candidates complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits: flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled environment. Computer proficiency essential.
