Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role launches after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under expert supervision, you'll master grooming techniques, deliver exceptional salon services, and ensure pet safety while building customer relationships. This entry-level position offers hands-on learning in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations for health and wellness products.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Drive sales through service promotions and merchandise upsells to hit targets.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, pet-handling skills, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. Computer proficiency required.
