Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and client records.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and promotions to hit salon metrics.
- Greet pet parents, answer questions, and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs), and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
