Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional service to pet parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and rebook appointments.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive sales by promoting services/merchandise and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
