Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding company values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full menu of supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Develop and demonstrate safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and promote salon sales.
- Maintain highest cleanliness and sanitation levels in grooming areas; handle sick/injured pets immediately.
- Assist other departments, follow policies, and contribute to store metrics.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise environment.
