Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Mesa, Arizona location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering safe grooming techniques, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences, and upholding our vision for pet safety and salon excellence. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond swiftly to any pet health issues. Assist across departments and promote company values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
