Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Mesa, Arizona location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Advance to Pet Stylist upon academy completion, sharing responsibilities for store cleanliness, pet safety, and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost sales and pet health.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Respond to sick/injured pets and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our technical exam and Salon Academy for certification. Thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in wet, noisy conditions with pet hair. Flexible scheduling required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
