Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Ideal for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a rewarding career in pet grooming.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and ensure humane conditions. Assist in other departments as needed and respond swiftly to pet health issues.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physically demanding role requiring standing, lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
