Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Midland, Texas location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills, delivering exceptional salon services, and ensuring pet safety while engaging with pet parents.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and teeth brushing per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Take action on sick/injured pets and uphold company values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift heavy loads in a pet hair-filled, wet environment with moderate to high noise. Depth perception essential.

- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
