Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Mililani, Hawaii location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Upon completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll advance to Pet Stylist in Training, upholding our vision of exceptional pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and maintain client records.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate action for sick/injured pets; assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled environment.
