Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Millburn, New Jersey, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, and maintain salon cleanliness. Ensure pet safety by identifying issues and assisting with vet transport as needed. Follow all company policies and assist other departments when required.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational abilities, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
