Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Located in Millbury, Massachusetts, this position offers a dynamic path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions, following daily maintenance checklists.
- Recommend wellness solutions, upsell services/merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure are essential.
