Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy. This entry-level position shares responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and recommending solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Promote sales, maintain salon sanitation, ensure humane conditions, and take action on sick/injured pets. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires proficiency in computer applications, ability to work under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), strong organization, attention to safety, and excellent communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting up to 50+ pounds, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
