Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional service to pet parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and respond swiftly to pet health needs. Collaborate across departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, and proficiency in computer applications. Strong communication, organization, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in pet-heavy environment (experience)
Responsibilities

- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
