Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from expert stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. You'll master safe grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety and parent satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a thriving grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while maintaining client records.
- Upsell wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost salon sales and meet targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, humane pet conditions, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies, safety, and culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and maintain composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and achieve productivity targets
