Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Mississauga, Ontario location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through the PetSmart Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness, and take action on pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational abilities, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: standing, lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stooping, and reaching. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
