Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences in our Mobile, AL location.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, maintain salon sanitation via daily checklists, and respond to pet health issues by transporting to vets if needed. Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
