Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Modesto, California, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions, and respond immediately to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Delivering positive pet parent experiences in-person and via phone.
- Maintaining safety through proper techniques and end-of-day cleaning.
- Recommending wellness solutions based on pet needs.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
