Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Monaca, Pennsylvania location, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across store departments. Prioritize pet safety, reporting issues immediately.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services
- Consulting with clients on pet needs
- Executing salon maintenance checklists
- Driving sales through recommendations
Experience & Skills
PetSmart’s Salon Academy completion and safety certification required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure essential. Must handle physical demands: lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays mandatory.
