Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering safe techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet parent engagement, salon operations, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in a dynamic retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services meeting PetSmart’s standards while developing technical skills.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
• Recommend wellness solutions, promote services, and drive salon sales to achieve targets.
• Ensure salon sanitation, pet safety, and immediate response to sick/injured pets.
• Assist in store departments, participate in team culture, and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). You must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, ability to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and comfort in a pet-filled, moderate-noise environment with wet conditions and pet hair.
